An important part of our work over the last year has been focusing on involving the families of the students involved with the academy. Finding ways in which siblings, parents and grandparents can feel part of the project will be a deciding factor in its’ future success. Parents who were involved in some way were more likely to support the project both on a financial and practical level.
Strengthening of this cultural identity within local communities benefits all and is in the interest of society as a whole. The support of families forms an important part of our work as they are turning increasingly to the arts as a means of expressing their point of view to local government. Making music more family friendly represents an important challenge.
